Welcome to West Side Fellowship

The West Side Fellowship is a small church planted in the St Johns area of Worcester in March 2012.

For what I received I passed on as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according tothe scriptures.
1 Corinthians 15v3-4

From the beginning our goal as a church was to be as christ focused as possible. Our forgiveness, salvation, access to the Father are only possible through the complete work of Christ on the cross. As such the our goal is to bring glory to God in thankfullness for what he has done for us through Christ. The core focus of our teaching is on seeking the Lord, listening to what God has to say to us that we may walk in obedience to his ways.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.
Matthew 6v33

Putting the Kingdom of God first is a key part of the focus of the church with the goal to have the same devotion to the Lord as we see in the early church. As such church life centres around teaching, fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer (Acts 2v42), that as a church we would grow in maturity and bring glory to the name of Jesus.

Our vision is to see each member finding their place in the body of Christ and allowing their ministry to be developed.

As well as a desire to see people come to a knowledge of Christ locally we also have a world vision with members actively involved in ministry in Poland as well as supporting the needs of Christians in other countries.

2nd April 2019

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
Ephesians 6v10

March marked the 7th birthday of the church, the time seems to have gone very quickly At a time like this it is often good to take stock of what God has been doing in our lives and so throughout the month it has been a constant challenge, a spiritual health check to make sure as individuals and as a church we are staying on the course God has given us. It is so easy with all the activity to assume all is well because we are doing the right things but at times we need to ask ourselves why we are doing them. The Bible warns the church at Ephesus:

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.
Revelation 2v4

The church was doing the right things, but it had just become a religion, their relationship with God was fading and it is good at times like this to have a spiritual health check.

At the same time there is always the danger of trying to earn our salvation by doing the "right" things! For our last Sunday morning service of March it was great to welcome Mike Loveridge from Manor Park Church who reminded us once again that through the death of Jesus on the cross we are set free from trying to earn our salvation. The penalty of sin has been removed and we are free to serve God out of thankfulness for what He has done rather than to earn His favour.

We now look forward to what the next year has in store for us.

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by the yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5v1
